Addiction Care
Addiction rarely exists on its own. For many people, substance use is tangled up with depression, anxiety, trauma, or another mental health condition, and treating one without the other doesn’t last. Trillium Wellness provides residential addiction care near Knoxville for adults whose substance use and mental health need to be treated together.
Understanding Co-Occurring Disorders
A co-occurring disorder, sometimes called a dual diagnosis, means a person is living with both a substance use disorder and a mental health condition at the same time.
The connection often runs both ways:
When only the addiction is treated, untreated mental health symptoms often pull people back to substance use. When only the mental health condition is treated, ongoing use can undo progress. Integrated treatment addresses both at the same time.
Who We Help
Trillium provides residential care for adults navigating substance use together with:
Substances often involved include alcohol, opioids, stimulants, cannabis, and prescription medications such as benzodiazepines.
Recognizing the Signs
If you or someone you love is in immediate danger or experiencing thoughts of suicide, call 911 or the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
Be Prepared
Trillium does not provide medical detox on-site. Withdrawal from alcohol, benzodiazepines, and opioids can be dangerous without medical supervision, so if detox is needed, we coordinate with trusted local detox partners in the Knoxville area.
Once you’re medically stable, we arrange a smooth, direct transition into residential treatment at Trillium, so you don’t have to navigate the gap between detox and treatment on your own.
How We Treat
At Trillium, care follows three guiding principles: Restore, Reconnect, and Renew.
What Sets Us Apart
01 — Mental health at the center. Our program was built to treat serious mental health conditions, so the reasons behind substance use get real clinical attention.
02 — Small by design. With just 16 beds, our hands-on clinical director and team know every resident personally.
03 — We take the clients others turn away. Complex and high-acuity needs are our focus, not our exception.
04 — Locally owned, not corporate. Unlike the region’s largest program, which is backed by a private equity firm, Trillium is owned and led by people from this community.
05 — Care beyond the clinical. Nature therapy, a veteran-run therapy dog partnership, and sound bowl healing.
Our Setting
Nestled in the quiet, rural landscape outside Knoxville, Trillium offers distance from the people, places, and routines tied to substance use. Space to walk, breathe, and connect with nature is part of treatment itself.
Trillium is not gender-specific; we welcome adults of all genders.
