Residential Mental Health Treatment for Nashville Residents

Some struggles need more than a weekly appointment can offer. Trillium Wellness provides Nashville adults with residential mental health treatment in a small, 16-bed setting outside Knoxville, close enough to stay connected to home, far enough to truly step away.

When Outpatient Isn’t Enough

Finding the Right Level of Mental Health Treatment in Nashville

Nashville has no shortage of therapists and psychiatrists. But when symptoms keep returning, medications aren’t working, or daily life has started to come apart, weekly sessions may not provide enough structure or support.

Residential mental health treatment may be the right next step if you or a loved one:

  • Has tried outpatient therapy, medication, or another program without lasting improvement
  • Is returning home after a psychiatric hospital stay but isn’t ready to manage alone
  • Is living with complex or overlapping diagnoses
  • Has been told their needs are too much for another program to take on
  • Needs time away from home, work, and daily stressors to focus fully on healing

If you or someone you love is in immediate danger, call 911 or the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Our admissions team can help plan next steps once you’re safe.

Why Travel Across Tennessee?

A Short Drive to a Different Kind of Care

Trillium sits in the quiet, rural foothills outside Knoxville, about three hours east of Nashville along I-40. For many Nashville families, that distance is part of what helps:

  • Real separation from daily pressures: Stepping away from the city’s pace makes room for rest, reflection, and focused clinical work.
  • Staying in Tennessee: Many Tennessee families have had to leave the state to find quality residential mental health care. Trillium keeps that care closer to home.
  • Easy family involvement: Loved ones can drive in for family participation without booking flights.
  • Nature as part of treatment: Our setting near the Great Smoky Mountains is built into how we help people heal.

What We Offer

Compassionate Care for Adults Facing Serious Mental Health Challenges

Trillium provides residential mental health treatment for adults navigating:

Our Approach

Clinical Care, Rooted in Nature

At Trillium, treatment follows three guiding principles: Restore, Reconnect, and Renew.

Restore: Clinical stabilization through individual and group therapy, psychiatric medication management, and brain mapping to guide individualized treatment planning.

Reconnect: Rebuilding connection to self, loved ones, and the natural world through nature therapy, animal-assisted therapy for trauma with a veteran-run therapy dog program, and experiential work.

Renew: Building resilience, coping tools, and a sense of purpose, with relapse prevention and aftercare planning that connects residents to ongoing support back in Nashville.

A Small Program, By Design

Sixteen Beds. One Hands-On Clinical Team.

Large programs can feel like a conveyor belt. Trillium is deliberately different. With a maximum of 16 residents, our hands-on clinical director stays closely involved in every person’s care, and treatment plans reflect the individual, not just the diagnosis.

We are not gender-specific; we welcome adults of all genders.

Before You Arrive: A Note on Detox

Trillium does not provide medical detox on-site. If detox is needed, we coordinate with trusted partners to arrange a safe transition into our program once you’re medically stable.

Coming Home

Aftercare Planning for Nashville Residents

Healing doesn’t end at discharge. Before you leave Trillium, our case management team helps build a plan for life back in Nashville, which may include step-down care, outpatient therapy, psychiatric follow-up, and support for family members.
